Example
When to use
A notification can be used where:
- You have an important piece of information that you need the user to see without their interaction
When not to use
A notification should be avoided where:
- The information is not vital to a user and they could complete the journey without it (in this case try using help)
Variants
Success
When to use
- To give a user as positive message after they have completed a successful action
Error
When to use
- To tell a user that they have made a mistake and caused an error as a result of an action they have made
- To tell a user something has gone wrong with the service even if they didn't directly cause it
Warning
When to use
- To generally warn a user of something that could happen during their journey
- More specifically to warn a user of a potential error they may find
- To inform the user of essential information they should be aware of before continuing their journey (e.g. on travel would be used for COVID messages / government guidelines / restricted dates)
